It has been said that as Christians we are very good at being convicted but poor at transformation. We often let the teaching of God’s Word and the influence of the Holy Spirit bring us to a place of conviction or being uncomfortable but this is where it stops. How many times have you found yourself reading God’s word, hearing it taught online, or sat under its teaching in church and you began to spiritually “squirm”. I know that I have experienced this frequently but as time moves on I am able to withstand the conviction and I do nothing about that particular sinful attitude, thought, or action. Next time you find yourself being nudged by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, take the time to ask God what it is you need to change, start, or stop and write it down. The next time you feel convicted by the Holy Spirit during a message at church right down the application example He is sure to bring to your mind. We will get no points in heaven for having our bulletin inserts filled in correctly, but choosing to be transformed by the doing of the Word will have an eternal impact on your spiritual journey!
22-24 Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. James 1:22-24 Message
